Journey to Germany

We arrived in Germany yesterday after another great day in Amsterdam where we ended up going to the Van Gough Museum which was fantastic!
Yesterday, we picked up our hire car which ended up being extra fancy and much better than the one we had reserved. Someone had done the opposite to us and had gone Germany to Netherlands so we got €100 off our car rental and a much better car! YAY!
The drive to Stuttgart was about 5 hours and Matt had heaps of fun on the autobahns!
When we got here, our friend Sabine was at rugby training so we decided to find somewhere to have a beer. Found this AWESOME local German pub where all the locals who drink there everyday took us under their wing and we had a great time! There was one guy who spoke English and had lived in Darwin for a few years back in the 60s. Then there was Frank who didn't speak any English but we bonded over some sign language, a few choruses of We Are The World and what can almost be called some interpretive dance! Great evening! Then we had a delish pizza and headed back to meet Sabine at her apartment. Her place is awesome! She's decorated it awesomely and it is an awesome spot!
Today we just walked around Stuttgart, taking in the sights and just having a nice cruisy day! Tonight we're off to Volkfest which is like Oktoberfest and should be awesome! More later!

  1. Well I'm at work. The air conditioning has broken and won't be fixed for six weeks, and people in Canberra don't appreciate joint sing-a-longs!! :-(

But I'm glad you're having fun! Sounds like you're actually having the best time ever!! First a car upgrade...what next? First class on the way home!!
I'll have my fingers crossed for you.
